Sooo its supposed to be charity month this month!! I think I have some red yarn that I might whip up a red scarf (for the red scarf project). I'm not sure what else I have.. hm. I wonder if buying yarn for that is breaking the fast. Hmm. I'll have to figure that out. anyway. I'm having major trouble finishing items. I'm starting to think I might just make small things - ie, headbands or something so I can just finish something!!! I think Julies having the same problem. LOL Maybe we should do something like.. buy a book or a hook or holders or something, and whoever finishes the next project gets to keep it. I don't know why I cant get these things finished! Gr. I have a baby blanket, baby sweater... a purse and something else, I think. Plus, I think when those are done, I might start my sweater. Plus, I have a ton of yarn that I think I'm just going to make into squares for a mismatch blanket. Those would be good "takealongs" for me. Maybe I'll get some work done this weekend. :)

Soooo.. a few days ago I was working on the baby sweater arms. I decided to check the guage on it - it was off by over an inch. Errrrrrr. So, I frogged it. All 7 by 11 inches of it *thud* I finally had time to pick it up again last night... and I could not get the guage to save me!!! I called Tonie to make sure I was reading it right - and still couldn't get it. I called mom to see what I was doing wrong (shes the one who taught me to crochet) (and to make sure that 12 inches wasnt too big for a babies back LOL). The pattern calls for G, but since my yarn is bulkier than the yarn the pattern calls for (I'm using Malabrigio instead of the Bernat Sweet Stripes) I used an F. I don't even HAVE a G hook. So I tried with an H- still too small. I finally tried my I hook - and finally its right!!! Anyway, now that frustration is done with. I have about 5 rows - which is about 2 inches so THANK GOODNESS that is FINALLY right. Grrrrrrr....

So yesterday I went to Michaels with my gift card from Christmas, right? THEY WERE HAVING A YARN SALE!!!! But, alas, I just bought 2 books, no yarn. I was a good girl.

I worked more on my baby hoodie. I keep screwing up the arm holes and frogging them :o( I think I'm doing them right now, though.

One of the books I bought was a square book. It has a bunch (like, 200) square patterns in it. The other has a sweater I like that I want to make for me. :o)

I really want to take pics of my yarn stash, along with what I want it to turn into. :o) Thats a lot, though, so it may not happen in one swoop or any time soon :P Although, once I get the laptop, it'll be easier!

Use your Stash 07

Share
So, today is the first official Use your Stash day. Of course, I went out and bought $50 worth of yarn yesterday :o) I am in love with the malabrigio yarn!!!!! I should repost our rules in here, since I'm going to use this as my yarn blog/crochet blog.

Knit From Your Stash 2007: Guidelines for L-B and Wendy
1. The Knit-From-Your-Stash-a-Thon will start January 1, 2007 and run through September 30, 2007 -- a period of nine months.
2. We will not buy any yarn during that period, with the following exceptions:
2.a. Sock yarn does not count. What? You think we are made of stone?
2.b. If someone asks for a specific knitted gift that we really and truly do not have the yarn for, we may buy yarn to knit that gift.
2.c. If we are knitting something and run out of yarn, we may purchase enough to complete the project.
2.d. We each get one "Get Out of Jail Free" card -- we are each allowed to fall off the wagon one time.
3. We are allowed to receive gifts of yarn.
4. Spinning fiber of any sort is exempt.

except, I'm thinking of slightly altering them to make it work for me and Tonie (and whoever else) that want to participate. And, we want to do Christmas projects early, so we would need our yarn for those. We tried the whole starting in October thing this year and didn't have enough time - almost for me, but not quite. Soooo.

exemption 1) any yarn meant for a Christmas project 2007, is exempt and allowed to be bought.
2) Ours (due to small stashes) will only run for a shorter time. We need a time frame. 4 months? through April 30?
3) we can fall off the wagon .... once a month? (hey! we aren't saints!!!!)
4) books, patterns and accessories do not count.

Oh! And julie and I came up with the months. This year, each month is going to have a theme - I remember
January - use your stash
February - charity
july- start christmas
october - baby projects
november - finish christmas
december was a free month

we also had a sock month, a new pattern month, mitten month etc. Yay!

of course, as with any diet, i expect this to last either 1) until OTL gets new yarn or 2) until next week :P
